Theater: For Peace

Theater: For Peace

Theater has been a mirror that builds bridges between cultures for hundreds of years, reflecting social changes and the collective memory of humanity by telling the human experience in depth. March 27 has been declared as “World Theatres Day” by the “International Union of Theatres” founded by UNESCO in order to increase the exchange of knowledge and practices worldwide, to raise social awareness about the necessity of artistic creativity and production in the development process, and to ensure peace and friendship among people. In this context, the play “For Peace” was staged on Tuesday, March 26, by the Irmak Theater Group, which consists of elementary, middle and high school students. The play, adapted from Aristophanes’ “Lysistrata”, emphasizes that societies can only meet on the common grounds of reason and love through absolute peace. The play, which was staged under the leadership of the Middle School Creative Drama and Theater Club students, turned into a collective feast with the contribution of elementary and high school students with original roles.
