The Middle Years Programme (MYP) is a curriculum framework designed for students aged 11 to 16 years old. It is part of the International Baccalaureate (IB) continuum of education, which also includes the Primary Years Programme (PYP) for younger students and the Diploma Programme (DP) for older students.

The MYP aims to develop knowledgeable, caring, and internationally-minded students who are equipped with the skills and understanding to succeed in a rapidly changing global society. It provides a holistic approach to education, emphasizing the development of the whole person by fostering intellectual, emotional, social, and physical well-being.

Within the MYP, students study a range of subjects across eight subject groups: language acquisition, language and literature, individuals and societies, sciences, mathematics, arts, physical and health education, and design. By engaging with these subject areas, students develop disciplinary and interdisciplinary understanding, as well as skills such as critical thinking, research, communication, and collaboration.

In addition to subject-specific learning, the MYP encourages students to explore global issues and make connections across different disciplines through its Approaches to Learning (ATL) framework. This framework is designed to support the development of skills that are transferable across subjects and contexts, such as thinking skills, communication skills, social skills, and self-management skills.

Assessment in the MYP is based on a combination of coursework and external examinations, allowing students to demonstrate their understanding and skills in a variety of ways. This assessment approach aims to promote authentic learning experiences and encourage students to take ownership of their learning.

MYP seeks to empower students to become lifelong learners and active, compassionate, and responsible citizens of the world.
