Art is a universal language that allows the individual to express their inner world, fosters creativity, enables them to establish a connection with the culture they live in and develop an understanding of other cultures, and creates a deep awareness of the meaning of life.
In visual arts classes, students are encouraged to use art in the process of expressing themselves, while focusing on developing their original thinking, perception, and interpretation skills.
Irmak Middle School aims to;
- develop students’ aesthetic perspectives and enable them to express themselves through art,
- develop knowledge of the methods and techniques of art in different fields and develop visual literacy by defining the basic elements of art,
- enhance students’ creativity by encouraging their original thinking and production skills,
- educate individuals who recognize national and universal values and have a general knowledge of culture.
Art Classes and Workshops
In the visual arts classes, various activities in the areas of “Painting, Design and Ceramics” are carried out to support students’ multidimensional perspectives. In painting, students focus on various technical skills by learning the basic elements of art; in design, students develop creative behaviors by combining the technical skills they have acquired with their ideas. In ceramics, students develop the ability to perceive three-dimensionality and create original designs using a variety of forming techniques.
Through our Irmak Biennial and Art Night activities, which provide the opportunity to meet artists of all ages, our students have the opportunity to learn more about the world of art, to explore conceptually, and to develop their perspectives. Our excursions, organized at different levels within the course, enrich the learning environment of our students and give them the opportunity to discover various works and artistic expressions from different cultures/periods. Students are given the opportunity to express and develop their creativity through various competitions, projects and club activities that enhance the learning experience. In all of these processes, students also have the opportunity to make connections between different art disciplines, enrich their aesthetic understanding, and develop their critical thinking skills.
