Turkish Lesson from a Creative Perspective

Turkish Lesson from a Creative Perspective

Grade 5 students had the opportunity to learn how to analyze things from different perspectives and how to develop their creative thinking in Turkish lessons. The event started with a presentation emphasizing the concept of “creativity” and “perspective” and that everyone could be creative. Different interpretations of famous painters such as Edvard Munch, Vassily Kandinsky, Claude Monet, Van Gogh on the same theme were analyzed and it was observed that each artist has a unique perspective. In addition, our students shared what they saw in the Rorschach inkblot photograph on the Mentimeter program in the classroom and discovered how their own perspectives differ from others. They made an effort to solve Guilford’s “Nine Point Puzzle” and realized how important creative thinking is for problem solving. Finally, the students shaped the coffee stain photographs prepared for our students by Özlem AÇAR, the author of the book “An Extraordinary Journey”, that we hosted at our school last week in the creative writing workshop activity, according to their own perspectives and creativity. After expressing their feelings and thoughts with colors and shapes, they wrote stories or poems about the shapes they created and shared them with each other. Emphasizing the benefits and importance of creativity, this activity aimed to help our students develop their imagination and creativity.
