Irmak Talks: Inspiring Speeches from Students
The Irmak Talks event, organized by the Middle School English Department, took place on March 4, 2025, with the aim of establishing it as a lasting tradition within the school community by holding it annually.
Students were evaluated through video applications to participate in the event, and the selected speakers prepared meticulously to develop their public speaking skills, express themselves effectively, and maximize the impact of their messages. In their speeches, the students aimed to raise awareness by sharing not only their personal experiences and challenges but also by highlighting global environmental and social issues in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
During the event, 5th and 6th-grade speakers delivered presentations to their own age groups, while 7th and 8th-grade students gave speeches tailored to their levels. Additionally, other students contributed to the event by hosting and performing music, making it a multifaceted learning experience.
Irmak Talks not only helps students develop critical thinking, effective communication, and public speaking skills but also contributes to their awareness of global citizenship. By recognizing their individual and societal responsibilities in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, students are encouraged to take meaningful steps toward the future through such events.
