IB MYP Community Project – One Project, One Purpose, One Change

The IB MYP Community Project is a meaningful learning journey that enables our students to make independent decisions within a team, face challenges with confidence, and reflect deeply on their own actions. At the same time, it supports the development of IB learner profile attributes and offers a valuable opportunity for students to demonstrate ATL (Approaches to Learning) skills. This process contributes to their growth as independent, lifelong learners.

Our Grade 7 students, having identified their Community Project topics back in September, worked diligently until May through regular meetings, planning sessions, and activities guided by their advisor teachers. After this long and meaningful journey, the resulting 40 unique projects were proudly presented to peers, teachers, and families during the exhibition held at our school on Saturday, May 3rd.

Following the presentations, each student was awarded a Community Project certificate as a symbol of their achievement by our Middle School Principal, Ms. Selin Kebelioğlu, and our MYP Coordinator, Ms. Gamze Kale.

By showing awareness of community needs and taking on responsibility, our students experienced the pride of taking initiative and contributing to society through the stages of solution generation, planning, and implementation. Through this process—where learning is intertwined with real-life experiences—they once again proved that they hold the power to change both themselves and the world around them.
