From Fairy Tales to Engineering: A Journey of Discovery in Germany
The “From Fairy Tales to Engineering Learning Route” trip to Germany, held between May 6–9, 2026, provided students of Irmak Okulları with an enriching educational experience combining culture, science, mathematics, engineering, and technology. Designed to support interdisciplinary learning, the program offered students a unique journey from the magical world of fairy tales to the innovative world of science and engineering.
Our journey began in Hamelin, the city famous for the legend of the Pied Piper. While exploring the historic streets of Hamelin, students experienced the enchanting atmosphere of Grimm fairy tales and gained insight into Germany’s cultural heritage.
The trip continued with a city tour in Kassel, where students discovered Germany’s historical architecture, natural beauty, and cultural atmosphere. In Bergfreiheit Village, students visited the Seven Dwarfs Mine and explored the historical inspirations behind famous fairy tales, connecting imagination with history.
One of the highlights of the academic program was the visit to Mathematikum. Through interactive exhibits, optical illusions, geometric models, and hands-on problem-solving activities, students experienced mathematics in an engaging and practical way while strengthening their analytical thinking and creativity skills.
Another exciting destination was LEGOLAND Deutschland, where students participated in activities promoting engineering, creativity, teamwork, and design thinking. Interactive learning environments encouraged students to develop both imagination and problem-solving abilities.
On the final day of the trip, students visited the Porsche Museum to explore the evolution of automotive technology and observe the relationship between engineering and design. During the Stuttgart city tour, students also discovered important cultural and historical landmarks such as Rathaus City Hall, Schiller Square, Altes Schloss, and Neues Schloss.
In line with the vision of Irmak Okulları to raise inquisitive, globally minded, and innovative learners, this international educational journey provided students with valuable academic and cultural experiences while supporting experiential learning and interdisciplinary thinking.
