Online and Offline: A Holistic Guide to Safety

On Tuesday, September 29, the Guidance and Psychological Counseling Department held a presentation titled “Online and Offline: A Holistic Guide to Safety” for all our middle school students. The presentation, delivered by educator and police crime investigator Mr. Okan ÇAMUR, addressed topics such as peer bullying, negative peer relationships, safety in social environments, risks encountered outside of school, boundaries in the digital world, and personal information and security. The presentation emphasized the importance of students recognizing pressure, manipulation, cyberbullying, misuse of personal information, and risky behaviors they might encounter in digital and social environments; being cautious when communicating online with strangers; setting boundaries when necessary; and making safe decisions. In addition, students were advised that if they experience any form of victimization or bullying, they should not remain silent, should preserve evidence, block the individuals causing distress, and seek support from a trusted adult.
