Lessons from Puberty ‘When the Tides Begin to Ripple’
Classroom studies were carried out with our students by the Secondary School Psychological Counseling and Guidance Department. In these lessons, where the “Adolescence Process” is discussed, information is provided in accordance with the age of our students. With our 5th grade students, the emotional changes of adolescence and the “privacy of the body” in this sensitive period were emphasized. Topics such as “resisting peer pressure, being able to say no, and the importance of expressing one’s own views” were discussed with our 6th grade students, focusing on the physical and emotional changes of adolescence, friendship relationships and dynamics, which are very important in this period. Our 7th and 8th grade students were reminded of the information about adolescence, and they were supported to feel safe by emphasizing the importance of getting information about their development from the right sources during this period.
