A Historical Field Trip as Part of Our PYP Unit
As part of the PYP “Where We Are in Place and Time” unit, our Pre-K students enjoyed a memorable learning experience during their visit to the historic Adile Sultan Pavilion, where they explored the connections between the past and the present.
Aligned with their inquiry into “old and traditional structures,” students had the opportunity to observe the unique architectural features of this remarkable historical landmark. The pavilion’s grand halls, intricate details, and rich atmosphere sparked curiosity and encouraged discussions about how historical buildings are preserved and how they reflect the lifestyles of earlier times.
Through this experiential learning opportunity, students actively engaged in observing, questioning, and making connections between historical and contemporary life. They developed a deeper appreciation for cultural heritage and gained a broader understanding of the importance of protecting historical sites as part of a community’s shared identity.
In line with the educational vision of Irmak Schools, which aims to nurture inquisitive, reflective, and globally minded learners, this experience supported the development of curiosity, observation skills, and cultural awareness from an early age.
By extending learning beyond the classroom, our students not only deepened their understanding through authentic experiences but also created joyful memories with their friends that will stay with them for years to come.
