While the academic, social, and emotional development of students is monitored throughout the educational process, their cognitive and life skills are also taken into consideration, as they have a strong impact on their academic abilities. The Psychological Counseling and Guidance Department conducts individual counseling studies to get to know all of our students, track their cognitive processes, and determine their cognitive needs. The assessment provides an objective perspective on the student’s cognitive development in the areas of “planning, simultaneity, attention, and sequencing,” which are the most fundamental components of learning. As a result of the application, the results are shared with our parents as part of the “Thinking Skills Program” for students whose cognitive skills need support. Group workshops are organized for one hour per week for six months. Support activities are carried out with differentiated workbooks prepared separately for each level.

The aim of the “Thinking Skills Program” is for students to demonstrate their real academic performance, to easily internalize the information they learn, and to reflect this information and skills in their life and learning areas. The results of the practices carried out to achieve this goal are shared with the academic staff and individual meetings are organized with our parents in order to jointly monitor the development of our students.
