Learning Through Real-Life Experiences
As part of the PYP unit “How We Organise Ourselves,” students from Irmak Okulları visited the Kadıköy Fire Department to experience learning through real-life connections.
During this enjoyable and educational trip, students had the opportunity to closely examine fire trucks and firefighting equipment. By listening to firefighters explain what should be done during emergencies, students gained valuable knowledge about fire safety, asking for help, teamwork, and the importance of community services.
In line with the educational vision of Irmak Okulları, which encourages inquiry-based and experiential learning, this visit helped students better understand community helper professions while recognizing the importance of safe behavior in daily life.
Through this meaningful real-world learning experience, students explored with curiosity, strengthened their sense of social responsibility, and developed a deeper understanding of how communities organize and support one another.
