Information Literacy
A number of factors, particularly the increase of printed and electronic sources, use and acquisition of information upon globalization, importance of distinguishing between correct and wrong information and methods and intentions of having access to required information, have led to emergence of the concept of information literacy. Individuals, who are information literate, are able to understand and define what types of information they need, know about the methods of having access to such sources where such information is available, determine such methods and sources and eventually access such information, compare such information acquired to information already in their possession, evaluate, arrange and effectively use such information, communicate it to others through applications and interpret and use it in new productions.
As the Library and Information Management, we carry out different applications at each grade level through our Library Guidance efforts addressing our students, ensuring that any relevant concepts are properly treated so that they are information literates and supporting our students’ education in integration with PYP unit subjects.
