A Conversation in the Light of the Republic: “Karaca ve Yürüyen Köşk” with Ömür Kurt

As we prepare to celebrate the 102nd anniversary of our Republic, an unforgettable event took place for our 3rd-grade students. Beloved author Ömür Kurt met with them for a heartfelt and inspiring conversation about his book “Karaca ve Yürüyen Köşk.”

Throughout the talk, our students once again realized Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s deep sensitivity to nature and his visionary thinking. Learning how Atatürk chose to move the mansion on rails rather than cut the branch of a sycamore tree left a profound impression on their heartsThey came to understand how valuable it is to protect nature, to think before acting, and how even a small decision can make a great difference.

This meaningful meeting was not just a book talk, but also a reflection of the sense of responsibility, awareness, and forward thinking that our Republic has instilled in us. In this event, which reminded us of Atatürk’s words, “My spiritual legacy is science and reason,” our students felt the power of acting with wisdom, love, and faith—just like in the story of “Karaca ve Yürüyen Köşk.”

We wholeheartedly believe that every child growing up under the light of our Republic will take root and grow strong like a sycamore tree.
