“Glass Furnace Foundation” Trip

With our 4th grade students, we went on a field trip to “Glass Furnace Foundation” to focus on the stages of producing a substance and changes in state. We enriched what we learned in our “Working of the World” PYP inquiry unit with this activity. Watching glass craftsmen shape glass at high temperatures was a delightful example of the effect of heat on matter. Our own designed glass plates and panels will remain as a wonderful memory from this beautiful trip.
