2nd Graders Migros Trip
Our second-grade students organized a trip to Migros as part of the PYP theme ‘The Way We Organize Ourselves.’ Prior to the visit, the students collaborated with their families to create lists containing two wishes and two needs. During the trip, they navigated through all the aisles in the market, carefully selecting and purchasing the items on their lists. The students demonstrated responsibility by inspecting the expiration dates of packaged products. For open food items, they paid attention to freshness and made mindful decisions regarding the quantities they purchased. At the checkout, they completed the transaction, received change, and obtained receipts. Upon returning to school, the students expressed curiosity, asking, ‘How can we be conscious consumers?’ They sought answers to this question and examined their receipts, applying the information they had learned about money in their daily lives. This practical experience not only enriched their understanding of consumerism but also enhanced their critical thinking skills.
