Turkish Ceremonial Rituals
In Turkish language and literature class, we organized a drama activity with our 10th grade students to help them better understand the impact of religious rituals on literature.
Within the scope of the drama activity, they reenacted the ceremonies of yuğ, herd hunt and feast with costumes, accessories and poems they wrote themselves and compiled the arguments, which are the most important mirror of culture. In this context, they made sense of the intertwindness of literature with life and comprehended the contribution of the rituals of Turkish life to literature. They also adopted the gains offered by the drama activity such as being creative, learning by doing, being aware of permanent learning, being involved in teamwork, and planning.
