Aestheticizing Ugliness, My Dülger Fish

Grade 11 students carried out the activity “Aestheticizing Ugliness, My Dülger fish” based on the story “The Death of the Dulger Fish” by Sait Faik Abasıyanık, which they read and studied in Turkish language and literature class. In this activity, the students gave a new form to the Dülger fish, whose external appearance was described as ugly, by reflecting their own perspectives and aesthetic perceptions. In today’s world where aesthetics and the perception of beauty overrides inner beauty, our students composed very creative products by emphasizing the naivety, calmness and inner beauty of the Dülger fish, which stands out with its ugliness.
