9th and 10th Grade Volunteer CIP Students visited the Foundation for the Raising and Protection of Mentally Disabled Children (ZİÇEV Istanbul) on Friday, January 5th.
Irmak Anatolian High School CIP students came together with fellow students who need special education at the Ziçev Istanbul Foundation on January 5 and carried out activities based on social responsibility projects and IB approaches. This interaction highlighted students’ IB learner profiles such as caring and open-minded. Mandala painting, jewelry design and conversation events have become an experience that highlights cultural understanding, empathy and social responsibility. The bond formed between students reinforced the values of collaboration and solidarity of the IB learning communities. This interaction offered students the opportunity to understand and share cultural and physical differences, as well as empathize with different perspectives. With this valuable experience, Irmak High School students observed that IB education provides students with a deep understanding not only of academics but also of global citizenship and universal values. We would like to express our deep gratitude to our students and all Zichev stakeholders for their caring attitude, open-mindedness and participation in the experiences. This experience, which highlights students’ dedication and cultural understanding/social responsibility, will be a great source of inspiration for future IB learners.
