Happy turkish language day!

Happy turkish language day!

September 26, the opening day of the First Turkish Language Congress held in 1932 with the participation of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, is celebrated every year as “Turkish Language Day” in our country. As Irmak Schools Turkish Language and Literature Department, we organize various activities and readings in the last week of September every year in order to create and increase awareness of the mother tongue in our students.

This year, we organized an exhibition on the historical development of the Turkish language within the scope of the “Turkish Language Day” activities. We prepared a model of the Göktürk inscriptions, which are of great importance in the history of Turkish language, and a video consisting of the words of great thinkers expressing the importance of Turkish language and shared it with the students. One of our students, who portrayed Karamanoğlu Mehmet Bey, one of the important historical figures in the widespread use of Turkish, created awareness among the students about the Turkish language by reading the edict that reads “After this day, no one will speak any language other than Turkish in the assembly, parliament and all around.”
